American Bulldog for Sale
When looking for an American Bulldog for sale, keep in mind that this breed lacks AKC recognition. It’s registered by a few all-breed type registries, but not all of them pay attention to preserving the breed standard. The ABA (American Bulldog Association) is the only professional registry that adheres to breed standard and requires accurate pedigrees and photos of the dogs for getting registration. Other registries may register mixed dogs and even Pit Bulls or Pit Bull Terriers as American Bulldogs. Don’t trust breeders who register their dogs with Rare Breed Registries that can register any breed that someone wants to make up. Such registries are not particular on the quality of the dogs.
If you are interested in an American Bulldog for sale, look for an honorable breeder who produces purebred dogs not for the sake of profit, but for the improvement of the breed in general. Since the breed is not recognized by the AKC and cannot participate in shows for purebreds, there are many breeders whose main interest is creating healthy and able working dogs, but not champions in conformation.
Prior to looking for an American Bulldog for sale, learn much on the breed: its typical personality and health problems, living conditions, exercise needs, and so forth. If you look through the breed standard, you won’t become a specialist, but at least would be able to determine serious faults. Poor quality dogs are usually sold to the unwary public. Those who care for the quality of their future pet will never buy a dog of dubious lineage.
After finding a good breeder, you can visit the kennel and choose a puppy from a litter. There are many things to consider when you visit the kennel: the living conditions and the atmosphere the dogs are kept in, the parents of the puppies, whether the puppies are curious and friendly or shy with strangers. This breed is not for everyone, especially if the dog is poorly bred. When buying an American Bulldog for sale you have to be sure that you are able to housebreak, socialize, and train a large and strong dog.
