There are many American Bulldog kennels in the USA and abroad, but it’s often problematic to find a responsible breeder and buy a quality dog. As this breed is very popular, especially in the USA, many breeders produce mediocre quality puppies for sale and don’t care about their health and working abilities.

American Bulldog kennels cannot sell their dogs with the AKC and other major kennel clubs’ registration, because the breed is not recognized by the AKC, FCI, and other official registries. Still, there are many breed clubs and registries that offer registration for purebred American Bulldog puppies. They are the ABA, ARBA, UKC, ARF, NKC, NABA, JDJB, ABCC, AABC, CKC, NKC, APRI, and ACR. A buyer should keep in mind that registration even with several registries doesn’t guarantee the quality of the puppy, because much depends on the breeder, breeding stock, and the ability of the owner to train the dog and give it proper care.

The only professional registry for the American Bulldog exclusively is the American Bulldog Association. Other registries deal with many rare breeds and are not precise about the breed standard. Rare breed registries can register any breed if someone wants to make it up. Such registries can also register cats, sheep, pigs, and other animals. Reputable American Bulldog kennels will never register their dogs with such registries.

Reputable American Bulldog kennels breed only quality dogs checked for all possible genetic disorders. It guarantees a high potential of a puppy, but none can guarantee that the puppy will become a show champion. If you are not sure you will find enough time for the puppy to walk and exercise it daily, or your living conditions are not suited for an active and playful dog, look for another breed that doesn’t need much attention and can be kept indoors. Though American Bulldogs are independent and ready to serve the master, they need much attention and enjoy playing with humans and other dogs. American Bulldog kennels that care about the well being of their dogs don’t sell puppies to those who are not ready to own a large and strong dog.
