Bulldogs are very old dogs that are associated with traditions and conservatism. The English Bulldog is the National dog of Great Britain and is often linked to the National character of the British. The breed has the reputation of a determined and sometimes simple dog. The English Bulldog loves children, yet can be a good guard dog in the case of danger. Slow and clumsy at the first sight, the English Bulldog is amazingly quick and alert in extreme situations. Its low build and strength are distinctive features of the breed.

The French Bulldog is a mellow companion for thousands of people. The owners of French Bulldogs state that the breed is very intelligent and charming. It will suffice to look into the eyes of this little dog to understand that these words are true. Delicate and devoted to its owner, the French Bulldog has an appearance of a little clown. In fact, one of the main functions of the breed was helping artists earn their living. By the way, the dog is well equipped for that. It has large, bat-like ears, small curious eyes, and short legs. As a matter of fact, some people make fun of the dog. Yet, many of those who once considered French Bulldogs useless ugly dogs, took to them when coming into contact with them.

American Bulldogs were originally bred to help farmers manage cattle. The true lovers of the breed state that the American Bulldog should have a portion of tenacity. The dog is muscular and strong. It needs much training and attention. Generally, the owners of American Bulldogs argue that love and obedience are the key issues when dealing with the breed.
